Pass Through Cabinet / Chamber Function

To prevent contamination in the USP Pharmacy, materials must pass through a chamber that connects the controlled environment of the pharmacy to less-controlled  air space.  Materials and supplies are transferred into the cleanroom through a pass-thru  cabinets mounted on the wall or floor. Pass throughs prevent  air from leaking out and depressurizing the cleanroom and also prevent untreated air from flowing into the cleanroom. Passing items through the pass-thru’s interlocked doors  is key to reducing contamination . A properly designed and constructed pass-through is easy to clean and maintain, which is crucial for maintaining USP 800 / 797  standards.

Pass Through Interlocking Doors

Pass Through Cabinets doors are designed with electronic interlocks, so that only one side door can be opened at a time, preventing depressurization of the anteroom. In order to transfer supplies through the Pass Thru cabinet or chamber, the pharmacy staff opens the pass-thru door in the pharmacy workroom; the interlock system automatically  locks the door shut in the anteroom.  The clinician inserts supplies  into the pass-thru on the workroom, breakdown area,, sterile IV compounding or Hazardous IV compounding  side and closes  the door. The pass thru’s heavy duty doors on both sides tightly compress  to prevent air loss , or particle matter into  the anteroom.  Next, the interlocking doors releases, and the pharmacy staff  opens the anteoom-side door and transfers materials into the anteroom. When the  transfer is complete, the anteroom side door is closed. When doors on both sides are closed, the interlock is released and the pass through cabinet or chamber is ready to be used again.Small Pass Through Chamber with interlocking doors measuring 22" w x 24"H with Stainless Steel doors
